Ecole Evangelique de l'Amitie Monterey-Burkina Faso

October is Global Missions Month in the Church of God of Prophecy. God has been moving in this project in big ways... it is our joy to share these testimonies with you as we pray for God to open hearts to the work that God has ordained in Doulougou, Burkina Faso.

Bi-annual Report October 2026

FORGING ALLIANCES WITH THE CHURCH OF GOD OF PROPHECY (COGOP)...

At the end of February, Angela attended the Statewide COGOP Women's Conference in Fresno, CA entitled "Women on Mission" and joining with women praying in Spanish, Hmong, and Tagalog, Angela opened the conference praying in More; the dominant language of Burkina Faso. This sparked interest in missionary work in Africa and an interest in this place that most of the conference goers had never heard of. This opened the month of March, one of the two months out of the year, in which COGOP recognizes and fundraises for global missions. This month welcomed a visit from Dr. Maribel Zacapa, who sits on various administrative boards of COGOP both statewide in California and in Global Ministries. At this time Pastor Vincent Martinez opened up the pulpit to present Ecole Evangelique de l'Amitie Monterey-Burkina Faso our local COGOP body at Marina Tabernacle. We were also blessed by Dr. Zacapa with a presentation entitled "Called and Consecrated." It was also a time of collecting gifts and donations from the humble and generous support of our local body. Furthermore, in July 2026, Angela traveled to Orlando, FL to attend the International Assembly of the Church of God of Prophecy, celebrating the decades of collective work in planting churches in 142 countries worldwide. Aside from recognizing and celebrating the size and diversity of the COGOP family, reacquainting with familiar faces of pastors and leaders in California; Angela was able to get some information that led to connecting with Pastor Albert Zongo, the presbyter of Burkina Faso, with whom we are corresponding in regular contact and prayer. An unfortunate turn of circumstances has also called Angela to co-lead the ministry of Marina Tabernacle COGOP, and to be co-shepherded by Pastors Vincent and Liz Martinez and Bishop Carlos Perdomo, which has challenged her beyond her comfort zone and brought her into another level of wisdom and service to God. Our highest appreciation to God for their hearts.

THE POLITICAL LANDSCAPE AND GROWING PEACE IN BURKINA FASO...

In July 2026 celebration erupted in Burkina Faso as the primary jihadist strongholds in the North Central region of the country were vanquished by the Burkinabe Army and civil control of infrastructures were returned to the region. While there is still the presence of jihadist cells and infrastructure control in rural parts of the border regions of the country, the major municipalities have been returned to government control and the Burkinabe Army has reclaimed over 75% of the nation's territory from jihadist insurgency, and this number continues to grow. The end of this decade-long war appears to be in sight. An approximated 1.3 million displaced citizens have been able to return to their homelands. President Traore has also declared a commitment to peaceful religious pluralism throughout the country. Large investments in infrastructure are also focused on maintaining domestic control of natural resources and maintaining national wealth within Burkina Faso's borders. Nevertheless, we still face the challenges of heightened distrust and scrutiny of Western-based NGO's. That being said, our Ecole Evangelique de l'Amitie's application for NGO status in Burkina Faso remains pending.

Current immigration policy in the USA has also caught Noufou's and Angela's marriage in a challenging position. What had supposed to have been a process of legal permanency through marriage that would have taken 12-18 months with relative security from deportation is now caught up in the issuance of travel bans on the part of both the USA and Burkina Faso against each other with no guarantees and absolutely no legal protections. This includes a prohibition for Noufou from air travel within the US without the risk of ICE detention. Being an employee of the Ministry of Agriculture in Burkina Faso, Noufou's petition for extension of leave was denied and he is being mandated back to work on November 1. At this time, we are praying that God make a way for our marriage to thrive without political interference.  Noufou and I will be leaving for West Africa this month. Noufou is currently travelling to Washington DC to make a last advocacy effort with the Burkinabe embassy to allow Angela's entrance into the country. However if God diverts our path for the time being we will be hosted in the neighboring country of Benin, where if need be, we will be received by our brothers in Christ, Matthieu and Bleck Hessou. Whether in Burkina Faso or in Benin, Pastor Albert Zongo has made the commitment to meet us there. What God has brought together, let no man separate. May the path be made straight in the desert.

At this time we have raised nearly $27,000 towards the construction of Friendship Christian School in Doulougou. We are praying that after the first of the year, we may begin to break ground in the first movements towards construction.

With this we humbly ask you for your prayers and pray for hearts to be opened not only in supporting this mission with prayer, but with financial offerings to carry forth God's plan and His will.
